Pile Capping in Sounthminster
We, at AN Fabrications, are not your traditional ‘9-5’ ers. We work with our customers to create, design, and install a variety of creations. This week we’ve been working with The Environmental Agency to pile cap in Southminster, Essex.
These jobs are incredibly reqarding and so worth while, as we work towards minimising the need for excessive excavation and concrete usage, thereby reducing the overall environmental impact of a foundation by lowering material consumption and associated carbon emissions during construction.
What is a Pile cap?
A pile cap is a substructure foundation which supports internal columns and walls of a building or bridge supports. The purpose of a pile cap is to distribute the internal axial load into piles, which then transfer into competent ground. The forces are generally distributed equally into the piles, but piles are not always installed in the correct place, and tolerances are needed.

But what is a Gable Frame?
A gable frame is a rigid structure with vertical side members ad sloped top that forms a ridge. Its a type of steel portal frame that’s commonly used in single-story buildings. We also own this great piece of kit – a Spider crane!

GABLE END FRAME EXTENSION – FREETHORPE
Freethorpe in Norfolk is the destionation of another of our jobs this year. Involving inserting a galvanised gable frame for a Gable End Extension.
This galvanised gable frame is a steel frame with a protective layer of zinc to prevent rusting, and is used in the triangular upper part of the wall with a ridgid roof. Sounds technical doesn’t it?! Why not put the hard work into our hands? Whether its a gable end extension or a conversion – we have the experience, EN 1090 certification, and know how to get the job done.

Piling replacement for Environment Agency, River Waveney
AN Fabrications visited Earsham in Norfolk recently. You may have seen us hard at work reinstating and welding the piles in place on the River Waveney for the Environment Agency. We do enjoy working on jobs like these that benefit the community and it’s good to work with such a great team of guys!
